Hi! I’m so happy you’re here. I’m Emilie Stauffer. I’m a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner turned mama turned photographer. I have been lucky enough to have spent my professional and personal life around children. I love the way they see the world and the beauty they so easily find. I adore the simple yet timeless look of heirloom children’s portraits and am thrilled to finally offer some of my own!
Have you ever watched your child as they were intently playing with their favorite toy? All of the sudden you see “the look.” You notice that soft smile where you can almost see their newborn self while simultaneously seeing how they will look as an adult. It’s hope, joy, innocence, love, beauty, time- all crammed into one moment. My goal is to capture that look with each and every session. It is an honor and a joy to get to know your child and photograph their authentic self.

In the summer of 2021, I was looking to have portraits done of my eldest daughter, Meredith. When we would visit some of our older friends/relatives with grown children, it seemed like the main fine art they had in their homes was oil paintings or heirloom portraits from when their children were young. Clearly these were cherished and sentimental pieces of art, especially to aging parents. To my surprise, I couldn’t find anyone offering exactly what I was looking for here in Nashville. One night, when I was scrolling Instagram, out of the blue popped Born & Raised Studios, and its founder Anna Claire Collier. She happened to be traveling to Nashville from Auburn, Alabama for her signature heirloom portrait sessions, and I quickly booked a session with her. I was blown away by how simple and beautiful her set up was, as well as the stunning quality of her work. She made it look so easy! I decided I had to try for myself.
Fast forward two years and many tears later, I realized how incredibly complex and challenging portrait photography could be. I felt stuck. My portraits just weren’t looking the way I hoped they would, and I didn’t know how to fix them. I felt like I couldn’t share my work, much less start a business, when I knew the quality wasn’t where it should be. Anna Claire and I had kept in touch since having Meredith’s portraits made when she reached out to let me know she was starting a mentorship program. I truly couldn’t believe it, an answer to so many prayers. Anna Claire has taken me under her wing and has transformed my work. She is the absolute best in the field of child heirloom portrait photography and has mastered the most challenging aspects of this art. Not to mention Anna Claire is so incredibly kind, supportive, and eager to share her wealth of knowledge. In a world that is full of comparisons and competition, she has so graciously been willing to help others walk the trail she blazed. This dream of mine would not have happened without her, and I feel so honored and humbled that she chose to work with me. I will forever be indebted to her for the confidence and skills she has given me.

For more than four children in a session or any availability questions, please contact me through the contact form below. After booking, you will receive an email with further instructions and information. Thank you!
Notes on Scheduling:
You know your child best! I’d advise choosing a time when your child would normally be playing. Avoid times too close to snack/meal times or nap times. Choosing a time during your child’s most playful hours will help ensure a successful portrait session.
I’m currently not offering sibling portraits but that may change in the near future!
Rescheduling Policy:
While payment is due in full at time of booking, I TOTALLY get that things happen. Plans change, kids wake up with fevers, etc. There will never be a penalty or fee for rescheduling your session. However, I kindly ask for a 24 hour notice if at all possible.
Satisfaction Guarantee:
My goal is for you to be 100% in love with your child’s portraits! If for some reason your child’s session doesn’t go as you would hope, we will figure it out! We can always do another session. However, I think you will be pleasantly surprised with what I can capture from your child. Can’t wait to see you in the studio soon!
